Welcome to ASSIST Austria
The work of ASSIST Austria began in the 2006/07 school year. The goal is to enable Austrian students to complete the 10th or 11th grade in the USA. In some cases, the 12th grade or a postgraduate year can also be completed in the USA. Very few schools offer an IB curriculum.
A total of 96 Austrian students have so far spent a school year at an American private school through ASSIST.

Application Process for 2025/26 Scholarships
Students currently in Grades 9 or 10 are eligible to apply to ASSIST for placement in the 10th or 11th grade. There are also some opportunities available to students entering the 12th grade and as postgraduate students.
To apply for the 25/26 school year, you will log into ASSIST's application portal. The application process for scholarships for the 2025/26 school year will begin in early August, 2024.
After you have completed the application, please upload your certificates from the previous school year (half-year and full-year certificates) to the applicant portal.
On the application portal you can now also enter the e-mail addresses of those teachers who should provide you with a letter of recommendation. The teachers will then be contacted directly by ASSIST via the platform. A recommendation for mathematics and English is mandatory; the third teacher can be chosen freely. Please speak to your teachers in good time so that they have enough time to prepare these letters.
Interview and English Test
As soon as we have received the complete documents, they will be checked and a decision will be made as to which of the applicants will be invited to the English test and interview. The English test is a Duolingo test, costs USD 59 and must be taken before the interview. If these costs exceed your financial means, please contact Christine Klingler at christine@assistscholars.org.
The interview itself will take place in Vienna at the beginning of December. To do this, a team from the USA travels to Austria and interviews you in small groups. But don't worry: This isn't about knowledge, it's about getting to know you really well so that you can then be placed at the school that's right for you!
Decisions about the scholarships will then be made in mid to late January. Of course, every applicant will be informed independently!
We wish you much success and hope to meet many of you in December.
If you have any questions, you can contact me at any time at christine@assistscholars.org.
