International Scholarships for Austrian Students

ASSIST connects exceptional students from Austria with top private high schools in North America through competitive, international, one-year scholarships. Our Austrian-based Program Coordinator guides Austrian families through the application and interview process, and later serves as a valuable guide as they are expertly placed at a member school. ASSIST's global team also offers comprehensive cultural preparation and support throughout the student's exchange year.

Application Process for 2026/27 Scholarships

We are primarily seeking students for placement in U.S. Grades 10 and 11. We also have a limited number of opportunities for exceptionally strong applicants interested in Grade 12 or postgraduate positions.

The application for the 2026-27 school year is open. Follow the steps below to apply:

Complete the online application and submit a copy of your academic transcript via the ASSIST application portal by November 21. A $35 U.S. application fee is required to submit your application.

Scholarship Finalists must submit three teacher recommendations, informal photos, and a short statement from a parent or guardian in the same application portal as soon as possible, but no later than December 15.

Scholarship Finalists will be invited to an interview and, if they are not native English speakers, will be required to take the Duolingo English Test.

Scholarship Finalists will be invited to an interview and asked to complete a Duolingo English Test.

The Duolingo English Test costs $70 USD and must be completed by December 1. If this cost is a financial hardship, please contact Christine Klingler at christine@assistscholars.org.

Interviews for Austrian candidates will be held in Vienna in December. A team from the U.S. will interview students in small groups. The interview is fairly informal and is a chance for us to get to know applicants better and help find the right school for each.

The Admission Committee makes scholarship decisions in January and February and will inform every applicant of the outcome.

The Kemper Scholar Program at Phillips Academy Andover

ASSIST is proud to partner with The Kemper Scholar Program at Phillips Academy Andover. Applicants can apply though ASSIST and be considered for ASSIST and Kemper scholarships - all through one ASSIST application.

Students who are awarded the Kemper Scholarship earn the opportunity to study for one year at Phillips Academy Andover, a boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts, as a 12th grade or post-graduate student. Students typically attend Phillips Academy the year after completing high school in their home country.

Students are awarded financial assistance sufficient to meet 100% of a family’s full financial need to study for one year at Phillips Academy Andover. Applicants will be required

Candidate eligibility requirements include:

Must be a European citizen
Not typically older than 18
Must be eligible to participate as a 12th grade or post-graduate student of Phillips Academy
Must be qualified to obtain a Phillips Academy diploma after successful completion of the academic year
Must NOT have previously studied in an English-speaking country for a semester or more

Upon completion of their year at Phillips Academy Andover, students must return to their home country for at least one year. For this reason, Kemper Scholars are not able to work with Phillips Academy Andover’s college counselors.

Sanderson Scholarship: 0%

Lindfors Scholarship: 50% or less of full tuition

Lindfors Scholarship: $37000 U.S. (includes school tuition)
